as tea is a tactile experience, it is so important to feel and know what the teaware might feel like in your hands. i understand that teaware is fragile but to have a display with cold tea and being like dont touch that by nature feels so pretentious and i felt embarrassed and surveilled. curation from a eurocentric artist rather than featuring the history and origins of gongfu and other tea ceremony styles feels racist and imperialist. you clearly had other chinese style teaware but where are the signs. where are the credits for these artists. also your signs for taking no pictures is not obvious at all. they are low and i completely missed it. Sure i couldve observed more carefully and felt your “intentions” and “private space” but its really not doing you service to be so degrading people (as with your many other bad reviews). whatever response you have to come back at me with this, i dont care and i hope nobody comes here. I feel so sad that asian culture and heritage is being commodified and gentrified like this. Dont come here. Please for the rest of people who are considering coming, dont come here.

i wish i could give a zero star review. as an asian person it was jarring to see how racist the people who were working at the front were especially since the shop that is directly profiting off of my culture. i was really excited to check out the tea that they had and learn more about their tea ware and was treated like a bull in a china shop- tea is meant to be shared and to be an experience of the senses and we were not only not welcome in the space but clearly judged and being discriminated against. i don’t recommend this place at all. you can find so many better tea shops all over new york (check out belloq) do not come here.

This space has been such a sacred calm for me. They show a lot of care and knowledge of tea. If wanting to attend any of the ceremonies or events they offer, I’d recommend checking their website and registering beforehand because of the amount of prep work that goes behind each.

We attended a tea ceremony and genuinely enjoyed the tea. It was high quality and very flavorful. That said, I agree with some other reviewers that the prices felt a bit on the expensive side. What surprised me most was the no-photography policy. In my opinion, it would be fair to inform guests about this in advance on the website. I specifically checked the official website and could not find any mention that photography is not allowed during the ceremony. Guests are only informed once they are already attending and are seen using their phones. We live in a digital age, and I believe it is important for businesses to publish such policies in advance so visitors can review them before arriving. When I asked about the reason for the restriction, I did not receive a clear explanation. I was told that people already take many photos outside and that the goal was for guests to take a break from their phones while inside. Personally, I did not find this explanation particularly convincing, although we of course respected the policy and spent the remainder of the ceremony without using our phones. I love this tea shop! The staff is very informative and the owner is very passionate about tea. I came a couple of months ago and bought a bunch of tea based off the recommendations of the staff. I love the Bedtime tea - it’s become a nighttime staple. The Earl Grey is absolutely amazing. I came back for a refill and was told to keep the canister as it’s meant to be refilled. Love this! Definitely recommend to those who love tea and want great quality.
